Emotion

What is it that causes us to act?
What takes over our minds and overrides fact?
Is it something that just sits in the darkened crevices of the mind?
Or is it something to which fate and destiny bind?

What is that word that causes people to think and feel?
Love is one of them that makes you do what seems unreal.
Then there is anger, a steaming heat of rage.
Then there is loneliness and suppressing thoughts, always being trapped in a cage.
Jealousy, another, which plays a key role in crime.
Then there is the boredom which doesn't help to pass the time.
There are many more of these things, and yet no word to describe;
What they are, how they work, or why they give off a vibe.

What are these things I speak that cause such a blatant raucous?
There are better ways to resolve problems then to act on things such as this.
Whether it is a fight in the heat of passion...
Or a teary-eyed evening of pain.
The river of tears in the person's white eyes, as streams, takes the form of rain.
It can be a love filled night...
Or a happy, playful mood.
To think logically without a clouded mind has always been considered shrewd.
It may also be the reason that people get locked up for what they want they cannot have.
Or simply being not sure of what to do to help you lose a while.
I'm sure you can document info, but no one can keep these things on file.

So what are these things that cause us to act and think...
And rely on one another?
If strong enough it takes time and devotion,
Of course, I know what it is.
Great Emotion.

Love and War.

Why is it we love?
Is it something cursed in our hearts to do. . .
Our destiny just sitting there like a white dove?
A symbol of it no doubt till the end.
I'm glad I can call you my friend.
But I want more.
I see you walking out the door.
Or on a sandy beach with a shore.
But you and I can never be.
Not so long as you can be free.
To live with me, would only be a crime.
A very big waste of time.

Why is it we fight?
Is it to prove we are right?
Or is it to prove how strong we are?
How fast we can run, even faster than a car.
Is it to show who's better and who is not?
Speak anymore and we'll all end up shot.
This world we live, it's going downhill.
I hear those familar shrieks and a shrill.
Love is a double-edged sword.
War is a dangerous gun.
Mess with one or the other. . .
Both and your done.
I suppose I'll start to conclude this rhyme.
Because war is just a waste of time.

A waste of time is both, I conclude.
However that is not true.
If it's not war, why are we fighting?
If it's about love, why start knifing?
I'll say these three words, follow them closely.
It's that if I know one thing,
"Love kills slowly."

Faded Memories.

To me, you're nothing more than a fading memory.
There you sit in the window, watching the world pass you by.
There you are laying on the ground, wishing you could once more fly.
There you were in my heart, making it beat proud.
There you were in the silence, the noise, making it loud.
There you were, the one not afraid to be different.
I guess that doesn't matter, our days were well spent.

To me, you're like the windy breeze that always blows so cold.
You do nothing but bring me down, a move so cocky and bold.
You, are nothing more than a dead and gone disease.
A pathogen that has not done any good, living inside of me.
You were never there for me when I needed you the most.
You were the epitome of all evil, in fact, the host.
The devil's hand hath played a work in this play.
As I must live through my choice every day.

To me you're like a tiny bug.
When I asked for your thoughts, you only could shrug.
When I asked you to judge, you only criticized.
It's not a wonder you've stained the pain I feel in my eyes.
When I asked you to sit, you could only stand.
A brother, a sister, my right hand man.
When I asked for your guard, you let it down.
When I tried to smile, you broke it to a frown.
I guess there really is no other way.
That is why I am here today.

To me, you are a faded memory.
When I knew you, I was chained and never free.
To me, you were the cage, and me the bird.
I was always singing in silence, never muttering a word.
You are still a faded memory, a dead and rotted corpse.
How I let you off, it could have been much worse.
However as the windy breeze is gone, and as the bug has died.
As the tears stop flowing, the many from my eyes, I've cried.
As the music abates, and the melody is no more.
Here are the keys, the faded memories, have all walked out the door.
I have the key to the door, I'm putting my life on lock.
It's no wonder you're banging to come back, overwhelmed with shock.
I shall not give or bow, or ever let you back in.
You're only a faded memory to me, no more shall I call you a friend.

Fate

Why is fate so cruel?
Why does it pick the wrong place, the wrong time, to rule?
I have faced so much because of it, lost so many things.
It doesn't matter how many there are, how they sparkle, my diamond rings.

They say that eyes are the doorways to a person's soul.
No matter how good they are at acting, or how much they roll.
In my eyes there is sadness, and lots of pain.
It's been said that my tears can be considered rain.
The salty liquid falls down my face, how many I've cried.
Just remember before you let go for good, I was the one who desperately tried.
Tried to salvate this sacred emblem, but behind my back my hands were tied.

I finally found love, except it was faulty.
Unrequited, stupid, and slightly salty.
Bittersweet, deniable, and conditionally unreal.
How do you think knowing this makes me feel?
I suppose I have to move on, no longer stand the wait.
For what was I? Nothing but a fish hook and bait.
I will no longer play these games of love.
No longer risk aything, but pray to the heavens above.

I pray for love and happiness. I pray for serenity.
I pray for everything sacred to be happy, safe and free.
Unlike me.
I pray for the feelings that keep my heart beating.
I pray for the food that I am always eating.
I pray for the rituals I perform in school.
I pray for the hot summers, and the winter's cool.
I pray for the spirit to never die.
For if it does, how can I fly?
I pray, I pray, that's all to say.
As the night turns to playful day.
Question dance around in my mind.
Soon they shall be answered with time.
No more is the moon in the sky tonight.
But everything's going to be alright.
Everything's going to be alright.

Changing Your Genes.

If I could disassemble a bomb, I'd be considered a genius.
If I were an astronaut, I could walk upon Venus.
If I could shape-shift, I'd be flying like a bird, free.
Truth is, there are several things I don't like about me.

If I could assemble my genes the way I wished,
It would not have to come to matters such as this.
I'd have blue eyes and keep my brown hair,
I'd be taller and stronger, without any a care.
My skin would be clear and my whole look changed.
It's not a wonder I want my genes rearranged.

Changing my genes to fit the right size of my liking,
All the while I can hear the chromosomes striking,
and singing of what I am doing to be very cruel...
But this here, and this is my number 1 rule.
I rule my body and all its features,
So tell this to your biology teachers,
A new person is formed from the new DNA,
when you see the new me, don't run away.
I could make a list of all the things I hate about me,
but if that were to happen I'd never be, well, me.
Instead of complaining on all the things I'd change,
how bout cutting it short and simple in range?
I'd change this and that, and that and this.
But being myself brings me a secret bliss.
So as much as there are things I hate,
there are things I much like too.
So I'll recognize both faults and gains as the tiny size of my shoe.
For it is not the external assets that make or break a person.
Now that I've wrote this, and you've read it, I hope we've learned our lesson.

What the 'Changing my Genes'? I read this to you one night and you said it was good. There is no need for apologies you're allowed to dislike it, but it's just a fun poem saying under "what if" circumstances. That's all.

Weight of the World

The weight of the world is upon my shoulder.
It keeps growing and growing as the years turn older.
Will there be no end to this test of strength?
Will my time lasting here go to no length?
I bear a weight that no one can see.
Almost as invisible as me.
The weight of the world is upon my shoulder.

The weight of the world is upon my back.
Anymore and it will surely crack.
This load hath been created by pressure and anxiety.
With this hindering my spirit, I'll never be free.
I bear a weight that no one can see.
Almost as invisible as me.
The weight of the world is upon my back.

The weight of the world is in the air I breathe.
It's eerie noise heard when the sword is unsheathed.
The crimson color to which I fear.
I'm afraid the attack of endings is near.
I bear a weight that no one can see.
Almost as invisible as me.
The weight of the world is in the air I breathe.

The weight of the world has scarred my heart.
It's shattered it once, then it restart.
The broken feeling I feel when this weight is upon me.
Well then I guess I'll never be free.
I deal with this weight everyday,
and it never goes away.
Not that I care, I'll cope with it..
And all of this shit.
I bear a weight that no one can see, that's for sure.
Each day it's getting heavier.
But, I won't give up, I will not bow.
Because determination and pain show you how...
To stand when you want to sit.
To start a fire in hopes when you have nothing lit.
The weight I am still bearing no one can see.
It's almost as invisible as can be,
And still upon me.
But I will never show,
How much or bad I want to go.
The weight of the world has scarred my heart...
The weight of the world is upon me.

The Dawn and Dusk

My dreams lie between two extremes.
People say I'll never reach them, they're too big, so it seems.
All I want to do is change the world.
And so the story plot unfurls.

The Dawn is a beacon of hope when the end seems close.
All your thoughts and emotions feel morose.
But you can't give up yet, you cannot back down.
Even when you feel that smile break to a frown.
The sun is the dawn and the rising of faith.
So come and run before it's too late.
I'll be your warmth in the time of cool.
Don't believe me? You're a fool.
Because the dawn and the sun go hand in hand.
Your light plays in my life like a sweet sounding band.

The Dusk teaches us not to be afraid.
To never waste your life away.
As you lay under the moon in night dreaming,
It's not my screams you shall be hearing.
The night teaches us that nothing is safe,
You feel the Earth tremble and quake.
You have to stand tall, you have to be brave,
As the friendly cardinal turns to a deadly black rave.
Because the dusk and the moon go hand in hand.
As the blue ocean waves wash up upon the land.

The day and the night both hide my dreams.
The sewing is bursting at the seams.
My determination is too much to handle.
My passion like a lit up candle.
My love giving me the courage to fight.
Both in the day and in the mysterious night.
My heart beats in its own morale.
My thoughts seeping through a tiny canal.
My voice will create a peaceful harmony.
My dreams tie in holy matrimony.
Holding my emotions in a tiny jar..
I'll NEVER let anyone say, I'll never get that far.

The Heart's Piece

This goes out to everyone with a broken heart,
Who can't find the muse to paint or create their works of art.
Who can't seem to pick themselves from off the pavement,
Who always find themselves just to be a day late.

Let me tell you a story about a girl who needs her psyche checked.
Let me add emphasis to this story and tell you how she got wrecked.

Once upon a time there was a young girl with nothing in her pile.
No dirty clothes, bad cards or problems worth her while.
No, all this little girl was was happy.
Seemed sad or upset she would never be.

She lived in a kingdom and was a true born princess,
She even did her hair everyday and wore a silky white dress.
She was kind and ruled her kingdom with love,
Treated everyone as an equal, no one below or above.

Every one of her subjects was her friend,
Someone she could turn to for advice till the very end.
Someone who could make her smile when she frowned,
Someone she could trust with her happiness, even when down.

But, one day she met a prince, and this prince had stolen her heart.
He promised that no matter what, from her he wouldn't part.
He stayed around and did everything to make the princess happy,
So that feeling of her childhood she always had was amplified to ecstasy.

Like all good things, this fairy tale has a tragic end.
He ended up explaining that he just wanted to be friends.
So he broke her heart and, from loving him, instated a ban.
Well then, I guess he really wasn't that much of a man.

The princess, after he left, cried for weeks upon weeks at a time.
She was broken, she couldn't sing, act, read or even write a rhyme.
Whenever she picked her head up from the pillow to look at the sky's sunlight,
She would feel something snap within her, her own tears she tried to fight.
It was sheer agony she was going through, even her soul seemed to weep,
She couldn't stop this depression, she'd fallen in deep.

So the princess decided it best to stay friends with him,
Truth is, she only accepted his friendship on a small, thin whim.
She knew that having him as a friend was better than nothing at all,
No matter how much into his arms she wanted to fall.
No matter how much she wanted their lips to meet again,
No, she had to be strong and accept that they're friends.
But, within weeks he had a new girl to love, someone new in his arms,
A new princess-to-be who had fallen for his charms.
The princess got an invitation, a "we want you" at the wedding,
And then once more, her tears started shedding.
She was hurt deeply again by this pain from before,
So what did she do? Went to her room and shut the door.

A few weeks later at the wedding between the prince and the girl,
She watched with pain-stained eyes, she was giving up her world.
"What if it's for the best?" she thought as she gazed..
At his hands intertwined with hers, she seemed unfazed.
Eventually she had decided to move on,
With the help of her "friend", she once again looked like an elegant swan.
Inside her heart still remained that crack,
The crack that yearned for the prince to come back.
"That's never going to happen", she kept telling herself.
A lie and a truth both within itself.

Where does she stand now? What happened to the princess?
Well, she no longer is in that silky white dress.
She no longer rules her kingdom with love.
She no longer trusts anyone equally, below or above.
She no longer knows how to fight her tears,
She has grown older through these passing years.
She is no longer a princess surrounded by a pretty scene,
She has become a higher title, a very wise queen.
But, this queen has no husband, no king to kiss.
And in these times, it's her prince, she starts to miss.

This might be wrong to tell, a story so grim,
But, know that this story was also told on a whim.
But, you keep asking where she is now, well, I know she has a smile.
That same smile that she had as a child.
Why would she have a smile if her heart was never fixed?
Well many things inside her did begin to mix...
But, you see, through this unresolved story, she reached everyone's common goal...
She reached complete peace with emotions, though never again whole.

THE END.

Little White Sand Lies

The waves of my heart just curb to your shores,
I don't know if I can take this anymore.
With our broken conversations and little white lies;
I want the truth, look me in the eyes.
That is if you could, you're so far away.
Looks like we'll save this whole routine for another day.
I'm so in love with you, and I thought that you loved me;
I just keep imagining what we could be.

I involved people on this just to kill the pain;
I walked on sunny days and through the rain.
Still my thoughts focused on you and your beautiful blue eyes;
Those same eyes that won't even look at me twice.
My friend says, "You need to move on, it's the best thing to do",
Maybe they don't understand how deep my love is for you.

Another says, "I'll support you. I know what it feels like."
No you don't, nowhere close, it's like being stabbed with a knife.
But what difference does pleasure have with pain really?
Especially when you're blinded in a love eternally.

It will last and last and last and weather and tear through it's years;
I'm proud to say I love you amongst all my peers.
So take it down in your books, in your memories in your heads,
Because the next time you see us, we'll be newlyweds.
I hate to say I told you so, but this is how it starts;
"I told you that I loved you, and I promise we won't ever grow apart."

You are my flower,
I am your calyx.
You are the petals,
That I protect from malice.

You hide behind me,
I'll prevent you from harm;
I'll use your stem,
As a weapon to my arms.

Gentle flower, you've caught me,
With the air you decorate.
Will you save me on my way down,
or wait till it's too late?

I'll place myself in danger's way,
For you and your life.
Will you kiss me softly
or stab me with betrayal's knife?

It's all up to you, dear, gentle flower;
Just remember it corrupts you...
...What you do with that power.

Even with these thousand swords summoned by hate,
I promise I'll save you before it's too late.
This is all so much, is this fake or real?
And you still don't know what you make me feel.
I've given you friendship but you gave me love,
Your hand fits perfectly in mine just like a glove.
And though you stab me in the back, not a thing will change;
Our destinies though, might rearrange.
But, if you ever have doubts,
I'll tell you the truth.
If you ever feel endangered,
I'll protect you.
My words are my promise to you forever;
That for you, I'll brave every sort of weather.
Yes, to you this may be foolish, an idea in outer space;
But, I'll take those wounds for you any day, I'll give my life in your place.
So I'm sorry I could be all I wanted and you had to see me go...
But, you'll find me, I'm sure of it; Somehow I just know.

~A poem I wrote recently, it's short and just one stanza long basically, but it's based off of Revolutionary Girl Utena, a poem from Utena's perspective of things. I had inspiration and I just let my fingers type. Things like these happen to spark something in your heart and so I wanted to share this with you guys and get your opinion on it. I hope you all like it.~

~A Fragmented Heart Beat~

I keep thinkin' you must be a dream.
To have requited love, finally with someone make a team.
It still seems unreal, so surreal,
Honestly, I don't know what to feel.
My own heart's outer shell you're beginning to peel.
So I keep wishin' my feelings will grow stronger;
Apart from you I don't want to be any longer.
So stay by my side, it'll be a bumpy ride;
But I'll keep you satisfied, so all your worries subside.
So don't hide, don't fear, for as time passes...
I only grow more near.
I'm more than I physically appear;
Just like my feelings that don't ever seem to disappear.

You say I'm determined, I haven't given up yet.
I don't intend to, there's not one part of this I regret.
My heart searched for someone to care, yours for someone to protect;
We found each other by fate's hand, a solution to our problems well met.
There will be rough patches we will need to get through:
And even if I don't say it as much, please know that I love you.
So you're on my conscious mind, that much I know;
I think about on what adventures next we will go.
In times of uncertainty, I will always show;
And be your light in the darkness that always glows.

Unrecognizably, I think about you subconsciously,
Like I'm not even aware of what you do to me.
All I know is euphoria and ecstasy;
Blinded by your love now I may always be.
So blind that I can actually see,
Through what's outside to the inside and the wonderful things underneath.
I'd say: "Lets be together forever."
But, forever can be severed.
So I say: "Stay with me now, stay as long as you can."
You retort back; "That was my original plan."
So, even if you're not reading this, just know that I care,
Even if this is coming from absolutely nowhere,
In my heart somewhere,
For you, I'll always be there.

I'm not very good with feelings, a bit of romance I may lack...
But, all the things we've done or said, I don't take any of them back.

You Have the Right to Remain Apathetic

Weapons down! Arms behind your back!
"Now I really feel like I'm under attack."
I think I've just been arrested, for driving recklessly
these emotions I feel so "unapologetically."

"Officer, please, what is it I have done wrong?"
"Shut up, or I'll place you in a cell, where you really belong."
"Please, sir, I was just feeling, I promise to God and swear by it."
"Didn't I make myself clear before? You have the right to remain silent!"
Since when did being human become a crime?
Like being alive is a sin, and you have to do the time.

"No please, don't take me away to jail."
"Hey, maybe if you're lucky, you'll make bail."
"I'll do anything please, just don't arrest me."
"Then next time, seal away what you feel, don't just let them run free!"
And with a sigh and a warning note, the cop lets me go.
And again I'm on my way home with a heart of heavy woe.
I can only imagine what they do to "people like me":
Lock them up forever, from their systems, the feeling of glee completely leaves.

See, for people who just exist, they go softer on them.
They toss them in with robbers, in which crime wasn't supposed to stem.
And for the people who live, they have a worser fate.
They get tossed in with the violent ones, a new item of "bait".
And then there's people who have feelings, they have it the worst yet;
Tossed in with the rapists, unable to control their urges, nor suppress.

"Hey there lovely, had a rough night?"
"Rougher than rough, but I'm alright."
"What happened? You okay? Are you hurt anywhere?"
"No, just my pride, babe, my feelings were spared."
"Oh well that's good. That's such a relief."
"Yeah, I'm ready for bed, goooooood grief."
And so I climbed into bed, wrapped in my only comfort's arms.
I need to stay calm, there is no need for alarm.
They start to drift off to sleep, while I stay awake.
Knowing that my whole life could be at stake.

Then, my significant asks: "Why be paranoid about this? You don't need to dwell."
I reply: "Nothing, but you'd better watch out as well."
And then another retort: "Well, just rest for now. No reason to be so blue."
I laugh and sigh, saying my last argument back:
"I could be arrested for loving you too."

~Short one guys, and it doesn't have a title. Just thought I'd share it.~

'I'll take my solemn oath to forever continue on.
I'll work out the bugs along the way,
With my will still half as strong.
That's what friends are for:
To guide you when you are lost.
I don't care if I'm broken, impaired or twisted:
I'll protect them at any cost.'
